We are the APA Pool League and the APA 9 Ball League. As the nation's first and largest amateur handicapped pool league, we have operated continuously in Atlanta since 1981. We welcome you to see what over 250,000 amateur pool players around the country have already discovered.
Talk to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. You'll find that they either play in the APA or know someone who does. It'll surprise you! Clerks, secretaries, janitors, lawyers, chiropractors, doctors, waitresses, truck drivers, bank tellers, and even school teachers ... all play pool in the APA Pool League. Over one fourth of APA members are female.
The APA is the World's Largest Amateur Pool League with more members than all other amateur leagues combined. Nationally, the APA currently boasts over 250,000 members (and growing). Think you're not good enough to play in the APA? Consider this: 75% of APA members are beginner to intermediate players, meaning you don't have to be a Pool Pro to play. And with the APA's Equalizer® Handicap System everyone has a nearly equal chance of winning.
For those who haven't heard, the national APA system is getting upgraded at the end of Spring 2011.
What does it mean for y'all? Well, the BIGGEST change is that our local website will no longer support the schedules/standings et cetera that many of you rely on.
The good news? The NATIONAL website will START supporting that information. (Starting Summer 2011)
IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO LOOK AT SCHEDULE AND STANDINGS FROM SUMMER 2011 ON FORWARD YOU WILL NEED TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL WEBSITE.
It's easy, follow the steps below: 1--go to the national website www.poolplayers.com 2--look for the box on the left that says "Online Member Services [log in now]" 3--click on that box, you'll be given three options--New Member; Current Member; Returning Member--read all 3 and you will be able to figure out which one you are
If you are a current and paid in 2011 member then you can complete the process, but remember the following: a--use your FULL membership #, exactly the way it is listed on your membership card. For instance, if you're player # 12345 then you will put 30312345. If you're player # 01234 then you will put 30301234. b--use youir LEGAL name exactly the way it is printed on your membership card. Do not use your nickname, do not use punctuation, if you are a Jr or a III or something like that, then you will need to use that part of your name as well.
Everyone should be encouraged to go ahead and JOIN NOW, so that when Summer comes along you're already good to go. Please help us spread the word!
One last thing for folks who JUST paid or are JUST about to--unless you plan on paying through the national website (which is possible now) then you will not be able to click on Current Member until after you've paid us AND we're able to process that payment and send it along to the National folks. Right now that may take up to a week and a half AFTER we've received your payment.
