Greetings Everyone,

Aside from the obvious visual changes to the site there are quite a few new features for you to use and enjoy... and there could be many more on the way, so stay tuned!!!

Here are just a few of the new features:

Personal Photo Galleries - use the link in the left menu and click the folder icon in the upper right to create your own gallery and upload images. Each member has 3 megs of space, or approximately 85 images! You can even select one of these uploaded images into your member profile!

Member Friends list - Integrated into the private message system you can now invite members to be your friends, similar to Facebook. At present it isn't much more than a list that will appear below in your member profile, but there are big plans for this feature, so stay tuned!

Restyled Stats Area - At present there are no new stats. The stats are just re-organized into collapsible tables that are printer friendly (just use your browser's built in print function).

Member WebLogs - You can now blog about your team and your APA experience in your own personal weblog! Your blog has it's own RSS feed that anyone can subscribe to it and post comments as well... you can even link it to your MySpace or Facebook account. We all know lots of interesting things happen during league play! Now you can share those experiences with others; we just ask that you keep it positive. Enjoy!

... and there are many other changes. Please take some time to look around and let us know what you think!

Enjoy everyone!

Ok...where are you guys! I know from my feedback lately, that there's not a WHOLE lot of positive feedback, but surely there's somone out there who has something nice to say! How'd you play on a given night? Did someone do something good to you? Did your opponent go out of their way to be nice or say something positive? Post it here! Let's give KUDOS where they belong! Thanks!

Like the changes. Like anything, once you get used to it, I think it will be better.
On that note, I have a complaint about the new look. Maybe I am missing it, but when I click on either MVP or Big Dawg choices, or even the main team page, the option to "Print Page" which used to be the first choice in that menu box, isn't there anymore. So, when you try to print the page, it comes out small and not in a readable format.
Please put that option back.

I'm sorry, there isn't a option to put that print button back. It was removed to address issues and complaints about cross browser compatibility and functionality. The new way to do it is to use the built in print function of the browser. This gives you and everyone else the ability to increase or decrease width, set margins, shrink to fit, etc and elimintates our need to maintain compatibily code across FireFox, IE7 and 8, Opera, Chrome, etc. It also allows for the printing of virtually every page on the website.

I did some checking and I agree with you on the default font size for the way the stats pages print. I've tweaked it a bit to increase it, but we're at the mercy of 8.5 inches width, so I can't go much above what's there now. It should be larger than it was and closer - if not exactly what it was before - maybe even larger. Let me know.

No problem. Thanks for pointing it out to me. The forum pages are still going to print smaller if you use that feature simply because it was written with FONT tags and the size is right in the page - so I'd have ot change a half a million lines of code. We left the print button there because we can't update it.

All the other pages use style sheets where we can change things in one place and the impact is site wide. That's what I did for the stats.

We didn't do it lightly. A print button limits us and creates twice the work on our end and a lot of headaches - it works OK if it's just a page for a receipt after checkout, but when it's multiple pages and growing the preferred method is a separate print style sheet so that's what we did.

We do have some flexibility with this change so by all means let me know if you've got other problems with printing from the browser. I'll see what I can do.

hey anita, i wanna give some kudos. first to myself. i had a hard time adjusting to organized pool (i thought i was good, so i joined and lost my first 8 matches!!), but i've been playing like a monster lately (i've won 4 in a row!)and am having a blast.
the real reason i'm writing is kudos for Tim. He put our team together last session with the intention of having fun and nothing more. He felt that he could be the captain of a team, even though he's still learning. He felt that "a couple of 7s, 6s, solid 5s, and a 3 to make the math work" may lead to a good season, but may not be how to get better, and may not be the most rewarding. Tim thought that if he could get a good group of folks together that really wanted to be there, that enjoy one another, that are concerned about each others' individual growth, that success would follow eventually. He signed up two new members to the APA to make our 6man team. Our most experienced player was a s/l 4 (and it wasn't Tim). Now we all feel included, we all feel important, we watch each match closely and enthusiastically. We play as a team. We practice together, and anyone on our team can call a timeout on anyone else. I feel that everyone on our team is getting better, and I KNOW that everyone on our team looks forward to our Wednesday night match.
I think that Tim Drummond really knows the point of an amateur league and deserves recognition. If there was a way to nominate him for coach of the year, or for some kind of recognition from the APA, that would be awesome.
on a side note- Tim is my brother. I love him and I'm proud of him.
